About Columbia Maryland
Columbia Maryland is a
completely planned suburban city. The original vision of its
founder, James Rouse of the
Rouse Company,
was to reduce the inconveniences of the normal haphazard growth of
traditional communities and plan out a city that could enhance the
lives of its citizens.
Located between Washington
D.C. and Baltimore Maryland, Columbia residents can easily commute
to both cities via the
MARC commuter rail system. In addition, Columbia is
within an hour of 3 major airports and a 20 minute drive to
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).
Columbia is part of the highly ranked
Howard County public school system,
and has 14 elementary, five middle and eight high schools.
Many day care centers, play ground and tot lots are also available
throughout Columbia.

Columbia Association is a not for profit organization that is
responsible for developing community programs and running much of
the recreational services of the community. Known as the CA,
the association runs after school programs, community centers and a
variety of other programs.
